More Exploring
Nothing much interesting happening at work. All the things I make are things you'd find in the States, or that I would make at home: chocolate cake, vanilla cake, carrot cake, brownies, banana bread, buttercream. No fun French pastries, they don't make those. For being in Paris it feels very American.
But that's ok, because I can just explore Paris instead. On my way to work, outside the metro stop, was a little flea market. Two days ago it had been a farmers market but some days everything is broken down. It was pretty cool and they had some neat looking things. It took a lot of effort not to buy stuff.
Today I decided to just walk, so I went west for a ways until I hit Rue Saint-Jacques and then went north along there. I saw the Pantheon and caddy-corner to that was a cute little exhibit celebrating le Petit Prince..70 years maybe? It was all in French, obviously, and I saw a 70 but wasn't sure if that was the reason. Either way it was pretty cool. I remember reading that with my grandma Omi when I was younger.

After that I continued up the street, stopping in a few fun little shops. Saw some great Asterix and Tintin comics in one.
I stopped in a pretty little church called Saint-Severin that was fairly empty and had gorgeous stained glass windows. It was nice to see them abstract and not the usual rosettes or biblical figures.

After that I passed the front of Notre Dame but was brought up short by a huge tent in the square that was celebrating the best bread bakers (boulangers) of Paris. It was very hot in the tent because they had ovens and were baking all sorts of bread. Further down they were selling them as well so I bought a half baguette with ham, brie and butter on it for lunch.

Now I'm back in Chatou. It was a fun day. The next two days I'm off but it is supposed to rain tomorrow. I think will we just be hanging out and maybe visiting with family. I will have to decide what to do for Monday when everyone else is at work. Maybe do some more exploring. My mom comes out in a week (next Saturday) for 11 days so I don't want to do any museums til she's here. Well, that's all for now. à bientôt.

the antique market brings back memories of shopping in one of those with Franciose and Jean-Claude. Very neat stuff, isn't it.
